About
Nigel is Professor of Air Transport and Tourism Management at Kristiania University College. Nigel has a PhD in Air Transport Management and MSc in Tourism Management. His main interests are in digitalisation, air service/route development, marketing and strategy, service quality, business efficiency and performance, wider impacts, geographical dimensions of supply and demand, interorganisational relations, and accessibility. He has published extensively including in high ranked journals such as the Journal of Travel Research, Tourism Management, Journal of Business Research, Annals of Tourism Research, Journal of Transport Geography, Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing, and Current Issues in Tourism. He is co-author of the book Airport Marketing (now in its 2nd edition) and co-editor of The Routledge Companion to Air Transport Management. He has managed research and consulting projects funded by public and private sector organisations including the Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications, Avinor, Møre and Romsdal County Council, PGL Travel, Dubai Aerospace University, the Research Council of Norway Transport 2025 Programme, the EU Framework Programme Horizon 2020, and the EC ERASMUS+ Programme. Nigel has held honorary positions as Visiting Research Fellow with the Centre for Tourism Research at the University of Westminster and Adjunct Associate Professor with the School of Aviation at the University of New South Wales. He is a member of the Air Transport Research Society (ATRS) and is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Air Transport Management, Research in Transportation Business & Management, Journal of Airport Management, Sustainability: Section Board for Sustainable Transportation, and World Review of Intermodal Transportation Research. He has previously worked as Associate Professor in Transport and Logistics at Molde University College - Specialized University in Logistics, Guest Senior Research Scientist in Transport Economics at Møreforsking Molde, Principal Lecturer and Subject Group Director in Aviation Management and Operations at London Metropolitan University, Marketing Executive/Instructor Trainer/Operations Manager at PGL Travel, Policy Adviser at the UK Department for Transport, and Airline Licensing Executive at the UK Civil Aviation Authority.
